When you are scoring your silent film there are several things you will want to consider in order to use the music to communicate your message:

1. Use the music to introduce new characters.
2. Â Fit the music to the motion of the film (Is the scene slow motion or sped up?)
3. Â Communicate emotion (use different music to evoke different emotions in the viewer (happiness, anxiety, sadness etc)
4. Â Change it up (don’t just put one piece of music for the entire film, keep it interesting)
